Background of Construction
Seokpo Campground was constructed with the purpose to nurture high morale among young students through outdoor camping activities and provide families with children with a nature-friendly place for training and recreation.
Development
Seokpo Campground opened on March 8, 1994 on the site where Seokpo Branch School had closed a year earlier. In November 2003, a hall for displaying folk-related items of Gamgyo School was constructed. Under the project to improve Seokpo Campground in 2017, a futsal park, a foot volleyball park, and a parking lot were added
Composition
Seokpo Campground measures 13,254 ㎡ in total area, of which the building takes up 743 ㎡. The campgrounde includes outdoor and indoor facilities. The indoor facilities are the Lodging Building, the Folk Exhibition Building, and the Dining and Life Hall. The Lodging Building has eight bedrooms, a laundry room, and bathrooms; while the Dining and Life Hall, a dining area and kitchen, is equipped with cooking utensils, cookware, and equipment. The dining hall can accommodate up to 50 persons. Outdoor facilities include a futsal park, a foot volleyball park, and a communal kitchen with barbeque grills. 
Current Status
Located in front of Naesosa Temple, Seokpo Campground is managed by the Jeollabuk-do Buan Office of Education. The campground is open not only to students and faculty but also to the general public and can be booked via the homepage. The room rate is KRW 35,000 per night. Pleasant facilities available at affordable prices have made visitors highly satisfied and contributed to local tourism. Abandoned schools are usually sold off, but Seokpo Campground stands as an exception, being successfully repurposed as a cultural or educational facility for local residents.

Lodging at Seokpo Campground comes with opportunities to enjoy the various experiential facilities and destinations around Buan County. Families with children can observe insects at the Buan Silk Worm Town and enjoy experiential programs to enjoy mulberries native to Buan. The Buan Blue Celadon Museum offers experiential programs on Korean celadons, as well as a tranquil stroll along the beach on Masil-gil’s Course No. 6 in Byeonsan and the healing natural forest trail imitating a primeval forest. Within a 10-minute-long walk is the Gomso Fermented Seafood Center to relish gourmet meals packed with the scent of the ocean. After the Korean-style meal, visitors can try the freshly baked bread made at Steamed Bun Seulji Cafe. For beach lovers, the scenic Mohang Beach awaits to be discovered, and for trekkers, there are the Naesosa Fir Forest Trail and a Buddhist temple.
