Definition
A ferry terminal located in Gyeokpo-ri, Byeonsan-myeon, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do.
Summary
The Gyeokpohang Ferry Terminal is Buan’s main ferry terminal. It serves as the bridge to the archipelago forming part of Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do, which includes such islands as Wido, Sikdo, Sangwangdeungdo, and Hawangdeungdo.
Background of Construction
The Gyeokpohang Ferry Terminal was built to provide more convenient public transportation between the offshore islands and the mainland in Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do.
Development
Completed in July 2020, the Gyeokpohang Ferry Terminal is managed by the Gunsan Regional Office of Oceans and Fisheries. In November 2016, the terminal was remodeled with KRW 135 million of government funds as part of a project to expand its restrooms and cafeteria, change its windows, paint the interior of its waiting room, and clean and paint its external walls. About three years later, in August 2019, a brand new ocean weather signal system was installed in the waiting room of the ferry terminal. This ultramodern navigation information facility provides users with regional ocean weather information (wind direction, wind speed, temperature, humidity, visibility, etc.) in real time.
Composition
The Gyeokpohang Ferry Terminal is a two-story structure with a total floor area of 666 square meters. The ticket office, waiting room, cafeteria, and restroom are situated on the first floor.
