Background of Establishment
The Buan National Sports Center was established to promote life sport and exercise and to improve the health and welfare of the residents of Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do.
Development
Following the announcement of the「Ordinance on the Management and Operation of the Buan-Gun National Sports Center」on March 17, 2010, the Center was completed (investment of KRW 6.6 billion) on March 18, and the opening ceremony was held on April 6, 2010.
Composition
The Buan National Sports Center consists of two floors above ground and one lower level with a total floor area of 2,454 m2. The first floor contains a 25-meter, 6-lane swimming pool and the second floor has a multipurpose room for sports, and aerobics classes, and a fitness room. The lower level has a machine room and an electricity room. The center’s swimming pool has been officially approved as a 3rd – grade swimming pool by the Korea Swimming Federation, and has a geothermal heating system.
Current Status
The mission of the Buan National Sports Center operates an indoor swimming pool, a multipurpose room, and a weights room so that Buan residents can enjoy experiencing life sport in a safe environment. In the swimming pool and multipurpose room, the sports center provides various sports classes at a reasonable price in order to promote life sport and exercise activities and improve the health and welfare of the inhabitants of Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do. The center’s opening hours are from 5 am. to 9 pm on Monday - Saturday. It is closed on Sundays and national holidays in compliance with the regulation on public offices’ public holidays. The 25-meter, 6-lane swimming pool also includes a children’s pool and a massage pool, and can accommodate up to 100 people. Swimming classes are available for beginners, intermediate and advanced levels. The multipurpose room is used for aerobics classes in the morning/afternoon and for sports classes for all from 2 pm. The fitness room has various kinds of fitness equipment, but as there is no professional trainer, individuals can use it freely.
