The Buan Intercity Bus Terminal was officially opened on May 14, 1974. At a cost of KRW 30 million, a major renovation in 1998 to upgrade the facility was completed followed by another in 2008, to improve the lobby and restrooms.

Current Status
Buan Intercity Bus Terminal is the gateway and the center of transportation in Buan, Jeollabuk-do. One express bus line connects this terminal to Seoul Gangnam Central City and the intercity bus line in Jeonju among other areas, including Gochang, Gimje, Iksan, Gunsan, Gwangju, Jeongeup, Sintaein in Jeollabuk-doand Seoul, East Seoul, Incheon, Goyang and Seonnam in Gyeonggi province. The bus terminal is where the village bus passes through and stops at. The village bus to farming and fishing villages can be taken from a separate bus stop, which is deteriorating and set to be re-built in 2021.
