A three-story stone pagoda of the Goryeo period located at Naesosa Temple in Seokpo-ri, Jinseo-myeon, Buan-gun, Jeollabuk-do.
Location
The Three-story Stone Pagoda of Naesosa Temple is located in front of Daeungbojeon Hall of Naesosa Temple at #243 Naesosa-ro, Jinseo-myeon, Buan-gun. The pagoda is situated between Daeungbojeon Hall and Bongnaeru Gatehouse.
Forms
This three-story stone pagoda of Goryeo was built in the style of the pagodas of the Unified Silla kingdom. It is 3.46 meters tall and consists of a two-tier base, a body and a finial. The upper tier of the base is carved with both central and corner pillars. The main body of the pagoda consists of three stories, each built with two stone blocks. The bodies of the second and third stories are significantly reduced in height, while each roof stone has a cornice with four steps and comparatively blunt hips. The finial consists of three parts, the noban ("sweet dew"), bokbal ("overturned bowl") and boju ("wish-fulfillment pearl").
Current Status
The Three-story Stone Pagoda of Naesosa Temple situated in front of Daeungbojeon Hall of Naesosa Temple has been preserved in excellent condition. Designated as Tangible Cultural Heritage of Jeollabuk-do No. 124 on September 8, 1986, it is owned and managed by Naesosa Temple of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism.
