A general national road that starts from Yeongjeon-ri, Boan-myeon, Buan-gun in Jeollabuk-do and ends in Buan-gun and Daegu Metropolitan City in Gyeongsangbuk-do, by way of Byeonsan Peninsula and Yonggye-ri, Baeksan-myeon.
Summary
National Road No. 30 (國道第三十號線) is a general national road that starts from Buan-gun and passes by North Jeolla provoince [Gimje-si, Jeongeup-si, Imsil-gun, Jinan-gun, Muju-gun] and Gyeongsangbuk-do [Gimcheon-si, Seongju-gun] and ends in Daegu Metropolitan City [Dalseong-gun, Seo-gu].
Origin of the Name
Using the names of the starting point Buan and the end point Daegu, the road was named the “Buan ~ Daegu Line.” The number of the east-west bound road was given the even number 30. 
Data
National Road No. 30 or Buan ~ Daegu Line measures 327.29 ㎞ in total length. The entire road is fully paved, of which a 2-lane road measures 204.56 ㎞ in length; a 4-lane stretch, 114.4 ㎞; and a 6-lane stretch, 8.3 ㎞. The section of road that passes through Jeollabuk-do measures 251.174 ㎞ in total length, of which a 2-lane stretch is 167.52 ㎞; and a 4-lane stretch, 83 ㎞. The section that passes through Buan-gun goes from Yeongjeon-ri, Boan-myeon to Yonggye-ri Baeksan-myeon, measuring 69.64 ㎞, along which the major stops are Dongjin-myeon, Haseo-myeon, Byeonsan-myeon and Jinseo-myeon. The section of road from Boan to Gyeokpo in Buan-gun is 2-lanes, and the section from Gyeokpo to Dongjin is 4-lanes.
Background of Construction
Byeonsan ~ Daegu Line was newly constructed on March 14, 1981 with the aim of expanding the east-west bound internal transportation networks.
Development
To secure expressway accessibility to Nadeulmok and expand road travel convenience for visitors, the existing 2-lane road from Buan to Taein [in Jeongeup-si] constructed in 2002 was rebuilt in 2014 into 4-lanes measuring 19.44 ㎞ in length, in schedule with the Saemangeum Seawall completion. The construction of the 4-lane section from Gyeokpo to Haeseo, measuring 8.79 ㎞ in length, started in 2007 and finished in 2019.
Current Status
National Road No. 30 is Buan’s main artery that connects Boan-myeon, Jinseo-myeon, Byeonsan-myeon, Haseo-myeon, Dongjin-myeon and Baeksan-myeon by way of Chaeseok River, Byeonsan Peninsula, Saemangeum Seawall and Buan Nadeulmok. As of 2019, the average traffic volume per day on the section between Boan and Byeonsan totals 6,097 vehicles; the section between Byeonsan and Haengan tallied 8,198; the section between Haensan and Baeksan tallied 5,461. The Expressway includes 2 tunnels [Byeonsan Tunnel, Ascending/Descending] and 84 bridges in operation, among which the Sinheunggyo Bridge [in Samgan-ri, Haengan-myeon, Buan-gun] has the longest span at 270 meters.
